The Washington Post did a “get-to-know” our future Mayor story this weekend.  Seems he is quite impressive with his blackberry dexterity!

Oz Communications has developed technology to allow people to access social networking sites on their cell phones.  The Helio phone gives users access to their MySpace account.  Verizon just recently reached a deal with YouTube to offer limited access to the site through its service.

Will all this investment in mobile social networking pay off?  It seems only rational to combine the two most addictive substances for teens and college students everywhere, cell phones and social networking sites, into one entity.  But do people really want or need to access these sites on the go?  Continue Reading »

palm-pic.jpgWhile walking to the metro this weekend, I noticed two great ads in the subway by Palm.  The ads showed the Palm Treo 680 with Flickr and Zagat in the main screen.  The tagline: “Not just a cell phone. A Treo.”

Smartphones will be the next hit in the wireless industry  The embracing of these gadgets (Pearls, Treos, or Q’s etc) in the mainstream – not just for business – will enable carriers to monetize other services.

For instance, one problem that Verizon Wireless has is more than half of their users do not have devices that can access V cast.  How is Mobile TV going to be successful when most of the embedded subscriber base does not have access to the technology?

I think Palm has hit the mark….
