While walking to the metro this weekend, I noticed two great ads in the subway by Palm. The ads showed the Palm Treo 680 with Flickr and Zagat in the main screen. The tagline: “Not just a cell phone. A Treo.”
Smartphones will be the next hit in the wireless industry The embracing of these gadgets (Pearls, Treos, or Q’s etc) in the mainstream – not just for business – will enable carriers to monetize other services.
For instance, one problem that Verizon Wireless has is more than half of their users do not have devices that can access V cast. How is Mobile TV going to be successful when most of the embedded subscriber base does not have access to the technology?
I think Palm has hit the mark….
