Thanks to Senator Tom Coburn (Oklahoma) – who has a hold on the WMATA bill that will let carriers into the Metro.

Oh come on. The WMATA bill is silent on wireless service (it would have been an amendment to the bill) and the $1.5 billion in new spending is what Sen. Coburn objects to. I doubt he cares about phone service on the Metro, and if he did, he’d probably be all for more competition.

The House bill (H.R. 401) does have the wireless provision and presumably one of the cosponsors of the Senate bill would offer it as an amendment. However, Mr. Coburn has a hold on the bill.
